At 8.00am in Christ Church we have a 'said'
service of Holy Communion which follows the newer forms
of service called Common Worship. A smaller service where there
is an opportunity to meet with God early in the day.
The 10.30am services in both Christ Church
and St Andrew's vary in style but we seek to meet the needs of
all ages and to provide worship that is uplifting and encourages
everyone wherever they are on their spiritual walk. Young people
groups accompany many services.

At Christ Church the 1st Sunday of the month
is an All-Age Service when everyone stays together for
the whole time. A shorter service where we seek to meet the needs
of all ages in an informal style. The major festivals (such as
Christmas, Easter, Harvest etc) also have services for all ages.
On the 2nd and 4th Sundays there is Holy
Communion [Common Worship] usually with organ and choir. The
young people stay in briefly and then go to their own groups [see
Junior Church information for
details], and return for the communion. The 3rd Sunday is a more
informal service involving our music group. The young people again
go to their groups but return for a special time of all-together
learning for the last 15 minutes of the service.
At 6.30pm we start the month with a service
of 1662 Evening Prayer. The 2nd Sunday is our informal
evening service which often takes place in the Parish centre.
This service varies in style but always has an informal feel.
The 3rd Sunday is a service of Holy Communion and the 4th a service
of Evening Prayer. In every service we expect to look at God's
Word and see its relevance to our lives. Most evening services
take place at Christ Church although the 4th or 5th sunday in
the month may be at St Andrews's.
More recently we have introduced
occasional CAFE STYLE evening services which
are very informal and are focussed usually on a current and often
contentious topic. It provides a comfortable environment across
a cofee to ask questions, raise concerns or pose difficult issues
associated with the topic. There are usually cakes and biscuits
to add to the warmth of the atmosphere ! These style of services
have been held in both church locations.
Midweek services
Holy Communion (1662) is held in St John's
Chapel in Christ Church each Wednesday morning at 10.30am.
